Study: CBD Can Kill a Wide Range of Bacteria
Researchers found “for the first time that cannabidiol can selectively kill a subset of Gram-negative bacteria that includes the ‘urgent threat’ pathogen Neisseria gonorrhoeae”. They believe it could be the birth of the first new class of antibiotics in 60 years.
Additionally, they found that CBD had a low tendency to cause resistance in bacteria. “We think that cannabidiol kills bacteria by bursting their outer cell membranes, but we don’t know yet exactly how it does that, and need to do further research”.
We'll keep an eye on Canada since they can actually do research on cannabis without Federal authorities getting in the way, as is the case in the United States.
