New US Federal Standard for THC Doses in Research
The US National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) announced in May 2021 that they have determined a “new requirement to measure and report results using a standard THC unit in all applicable human subjects’ research.” This would become active immediately.
That new "standard unit" for research purposes is five milligrams (5mg) of THC. This federal standard will make it easier to compare results from different studies, and remove some of the variability in research methods that makes it difficult to compare THC across different studies.
