The Entourage Effect
An overview of recent studies concerning the synergy purported to come from taking a combination of active ingredients as opposed to an isolated single molecule extract. Many call these products "whole plant" products, such as hashish and rosins that are concentrated without the use of a solvent other than water and ice.
And of course, unprocessed flower is the most complete whole plant product you can get since even mechanical extraction can cause the loss of volatile monoterpenes. The article also highlights two different types of Entourage Effect: 1) INTER-Entourage Effect that proposes cannabinoid-to-cannabinoid interactions and terpene-to-terpene interactions and 2) INTRA-Entourage Effect that proposes interactions between cannabinoids and terpenes. A very nice article from our friends over at Leafly.
